I hate my cable company

My internet went out (again) at 3am. I tried all the regular things, and finally I called them. They asked if the TV cable was working -- I looked -- no. So, I had to call the TV cable number. She took the information, went away, and said -- I can send someone in the morning, but it must be a problem at your end, because there are no other complaints registered.

three....two....one.....

Um -- might that be because someone has to be first? Or possibly because it's 3:20 in the morning?

No, apparently not.

Miraculously, about 6am, when people woke up, they pushed the magic button and my connection came back.

I hate Comcast. Blasted monopoly, If I had *any* other option for high speed connection....

The Theme at RightclickLick this week is hair.
mmmm cat hair.I love the boy

I took a huge number of caps from this episode,(the one with the kiss, where she rips his wetsuit open - and who can blame her!) which I will be posting in a day or two.

books bolded I have read (though, I find at my age that things I read thirty years ago are sharp and clear, but things I read a year or so ago are a faint taste on the tip of the tongue...

I think this list is very slanted toward the modern, and some authors have so many single entries that it slants the result. Maybe they need to list authors? And I think my *reads* show off my catholic school education more than my own taste. I am adding an X to things I detested, and a strikethrough to things I would never touch... again, my taste is weird.)

for Annaliese...

Your husband or mine could do this better...
But I managed to think of it first -- The Bender-Boromir crossover
if you have a screen cap of Bender with his arm up, I bet we could give him the Flag of Gondor.

from [info]zillah975 --I figure it's only fair to do both sides...

I can't imagine how some of these books caused enough stir to get on this (I used to work in the children's library, and it would make me crazy. So, this list must be American in origin? Sex and Freedom = bad / Violence = ok?)

So, I knew there was no possible way I was going to be awake to greet the cable guy if I was the first appointment of the morning. Therefore, I stayed up. Not the biggest deal, I frequently write through the night, but it feels different when I am in control of deciding when I am tired. Nor am I generally frustrated beyond endurance because I have left three projects for the quiet hours, and now I have no email, no live journal, no website, no ebay.... nor am I usually so wound up from being told there is no problem, or if there is, it is inside my house.

Not to mention that it took them more than a year to get the original hookup to work correctly, and in spite of nearly weekly visits and the fact that i TOLD them every time that I use a Mac, they are always flabbergasted to see Titania sitting on my desk. The first nervous question is always "You aren't running system 10, are you?" Yes, you moron, I am.

Next they look hopefully at Jim's station -and nearly have an attack when they see another Mac. No one has been in the house since we bought the G5 - I can hardly wait.

The last guy was so intimidated he would not even let me walk him through the procedures - he ran out to the truck and came in with a little Dell laptop. He was not amused when I burst out laughing.

Anyway, I am obviously rambling -- it is now 2pm. First appointment of the day has yet to show up, and I am finding my eyes closing while I think.

Thank you, Comcast. I just want to let you know I take every opportunity to tell people how much I appreciate your service.....

Targeting Your Audience

All these messages in my mail trying to give me an electronic virus, buried under a second deluge of mail complaining about it, followed by a combined aftermath (wave three and four) of people who want to tell me how to avoid group one (too late, yes?) or how to rid myself of the effect of said virus (which I don't *have* because, I have a Mac, and I am not a moron, thank you very much) - especially those which pop up in my browser while I am reading slash to tell me ***bells and whistles*** We have detected "X" on your computer!!!" *** more bells and whistles**** I think not! I repeat, I have a MAC and I am not a MORON! Though it occasionally tells me "There Is Porn On Your Computer!" and I think there better be! I wrote for three hours! Though I happen to know you can't tell that from there, because I have.... well never mind.

*fileg stops for a breath, looks up at above sentence, mentally diagrams it, hopes Jack Kerouac and Sister Frances Genevive will be proud... ummm, not of the porn, sister. Sorry.*

Well, with all of that, I got to thinking about designing messages (not the virus's themselves - fooling the machine does not interest me the way fooling the human eye/mind does) for small niche groups.

Want to get me to open that message, fall for your line and click on the stupid link that sets the game in motion? Presenting the FILEG virus - it comes into my mailbox disguised under a header like this:
From: reviewalert@lookma,I'mawriter,com
Review Alert! You Have a New Review For ...

Inside it would very enticingly tell me that someone has left a new review of my story... One that has a title too long to fit in the space (moi?) and I immediately try clicking over to download it, yes, yes, please, give me what's in the bag....

But, even if I *AM* a moron, I still have a Mac. And I can't imagine my niche is big enough to warrant targeting. But that's the one guys --

What's yours??

Ok, since you are all so impatient, here's a little teaser. I hope I did not raise your hopes unreasonably- it's just shoulders and neck, but in the context of the kiss it is so..... so.... uungh,

So, here he is, spitting in his face mask -

ok, not really, but those will be in the big set if anyone wants to make obscene slashy goodness out of them...

See the look on Sigrid Thornton's face?
That's how North feels... that's how the boy is supposed to be wanted...

I haven't seen a tv ad for ROTK for ages -- and there was just on at the end of Without A Trace -- and it *opened* on faramir's little face at the coronation! Moving up in the world, my boy.
