Drabble: Blue
Where Even The Stars Were Strange
for the challenge Blue at [info]tolkien_weekly
Characters: Aragorn, Gandalf (2 others implied)
Book/Source: UT and The Peoples of Middle-earth

All of Arda belongs to the Professor. I am just a traveller.

They were two figures wrapped in tattered cloaks, sharing a fire and the taste of smoke while the sky danced overhead.

“Your travels took you far this time,” the old man said.

“Aye – so far South and East that even the names of the stars deserted me. But I did find signs of what we had spoken about.”

The ranger drew from his pack a small book bound in blue, marked Ithryn Luin – the Warnings of Morinehtar and Romestamo.

“The groups are small, and very secretive. But they do exist, and they have long been resisting the rising evil.”

Ah - I do like to think of them not going to the dark side, but working away secretively. Thank you.

What a good idea to use the Blue wizards for this! I love your opening line - it's very visual.

Thanks! I knew right away I want to use them, but had to dig in the histories for an idea about how.

I like the feel of this one. I could see them as I read this.

Thank you. When I am writing these two, I can always *smell* smoke.

Thank you. So much in Tolkien happens in small asides - it's a great place to be for me since action makes me put a bag over my head.

Oh how wonderful! To think that one of the many journeys Aragorn and Gandalf made together was to find some evidence of the Blue Wizards! It makes me want to know more!

And a perfect choice for the prompt!

Thank you! It was one of the few clear color choices I've had writing for this set of prompts.

More more more! (I know; I hate it when people do that to me, but this just BEGS to be continued...)

Also: that first line is to die for. It's glorious.

I can nearly taste the smoke when these two are in my head *G*. And it was really The Professor who left the door open for this thought.

One of the things I love about book!Aragorn is that he appreciates how everyone standing just so is what lets the big things happen. Suddenly, I wanted him to know this, too...

Thanks! I am always torn about sharing information through Gandalf. Sometimes you can't drag a blessed word that would help out of him with pliers, and then he'll go on for pages about something.

This was a surprising response to the prompt. The thought of the Blue Wizards as the founders of a resistance movement is very appealing. Well done!

I had to go nearly to the end of the histories to find the line I remembered about them possibly founding resistance movements in the far south and east.

Oooh, clever! I am a total sucker for Gandalf and Aragorn "before the book" and this is perfect.

Thank you! This one was all there in The Professor's notes, I just had to find all the parts!

In the Books, Gandalf keeps everything so secret, yet it's apparent he has talked to Aragorn about all sorts of things. And I really want to know what those things were!!
