singing in the face of death






Because I stopped sending poetry to review at HASA there are some things that have never really been shown outside, though they are not new. This is one of those pieces - it was written for the War and Remembrance challenge. It is a Terza-Rima sonnet; a bard of Rohan singing of Hirgon of Gondor.

Hirgon, as you probably remember, rode to Rohan, bringing the red tipped arrow that asked them to remember their pledge to ride to Gondor's aid in time of war. His headless body was discovered later on the road; the arrow was still in his hand. I love Hirgon, Hama and Halbarad...
