little brown bird

spent the day catching up, but I am not caught up, and of course Friday is the day that I usually fall behind. And I had several phone calls today from friends telling me "our" plans for the holiday weekend.... I like my friends, I like the movies and I like concerts. I hate barbeques, )love watching people eat things I can't have all day, especially when the diet is not working at the moment) sittting outside in the sun in summer (hello! I hate temperatures above 65, am phobic about +allergic to insects, and my mother died of skin cancer...) and not having private time for three days.... I will enjoy it like mad once I have been pried away from my keyboard, and it will piss me off at the same time. What a goofball I am.

Jim's mom sailed through the first part of the operation today (did I forget to tell you that when we got there we were met by the - Oh, well they didn't operate today, but maybe tomorrow, so you should stay...)

Lucifer. The most misunderstood of all the
ArchAngels, you're most like the ArchAngel of
Light. You've seen the darkside and have opted
for something better. You need better press,
though chances are no one will really
understand your motives.

Which ArchAngel are you most like?

HASA Challenges

HASA has (yay!) started a forum where you can sign up to get challenge announcements by email I am hoping this will keep me from missing them in the flood of mail that sometimes overwhelms me there (though I miss that mail, too, and I hope to get caught up there as well. Must learn to skip what can be skipped, both here and there... compulsive, me.)

This confused me (and made me laugh) though:

Just before I left for NY on Monday, edrys sent me the latest challenge notice. (*smooches ness* thanks for helping me try to come back)

Message: There is now a new nuzgul in the hutch: "Lord of Men, Lord of

For two characters coming from such radically different backgrounds,
Faramir and Elrond actually have a lot in common:

* Elrond lost both of his parents when they sailed to Valinor, and his
brother when Elros chose mortality. Faramir lost his mother at a young age,
and his brother and father in the Ring War.

* Both are lore-masters.

* Both are acquainted with Mithrandir.

* Faramir leads a corps of rangers fighting orcs. Elrond's sons have been
fighting with a corps of rangers against the orcs.

* Both had the wisdom to know the Ring must be destroyed.

So just what would they have talked about when they met after the Ring War? Elrond surely has some good advice for Faramir to help him move beyond the pain the War had caused him. What did Faramir have to offer Elrond (some sort of reconciliation with Pippin? wisdom concerning Arwen's choice?)

I have actually been in this spot once or twice, but not in my canon arc. But I can't stop thinking about this line in the challenge description: What did Faramir have to offer Elrond (some sort of reconciliation with Pippin?

Am I missing something obvious? I cannot for my life think of what they would need to be reconciled about

Well, ok - when I talked about this with Chris, we ended up spinning a silly tale of how Pip romanced Elrond and dumped him when the fellowship went south. That awkward avoidance at Arwen's wedding, the bald-faced "I wrote you from Rohan, the letters must never have gotten delivered" excuses...

Really, though - Pip looms large in my own mythology. I will even admit to giving him some of the lines that were designed for North in order to get the concepts out there. I thought I had a handle on Pip. What am I missing?
