Thanks to all of you who have been so supportive through this. Jim seems fine, though a little numb, and both of us are relieved that if there was no chance for a real recovery, it was quick.
(I am still bent about her doctors not getting in touch through all the sudden downturns she took last week. After the infuriating incidents over calling on the cell phone, we are still encountering more - for instance, Jim was in NY and sat with his unconscious mom on Friday and finally spoke with her doctors -- but we were not told until they were debating procedures this morning that she had a stroke last week. I hope by all the powers that I never have to trust Jim or myself to the American medical system)
I know that we have been occasionally hard to reach, and that when I have been around, I have only wanted to play, not get into anything that would have required my brain. That may continue for a bit, as we try to make arrangements and shuttle back and forth to accomplish them.
Thanks again, especially to Chris for offering to go to NY with him and be his back up in the places where I just want to get a gun.
For the moment, we are both home.
