But my Flist always makes me feel both intimidated and included; outclassed and challenged to produce. But who the heck pulled the pendulum down so far? This is a mighty long swing, and it can't be good for the mechanism.
In the outclassed category, ursulav posted this - Little Red Wolverine (not the x-men type, the furry kind) and the Wolf, a story, and picture, and a description of the Pepperidge Farms' Mixed Rodent Party Assortment. Jealous, I am jealous jealous, jealous....
editions -- I have an ongoing conversation with a couple of friends (most notably with John, media complete-ist, who doesn't seem to believe he doesn't own a cd/dvd store anymore) about the "fairness" of Peter Jackson and all the extended editions. Well, I don't expect to convert anyone - I am happy to have every scrap, and since we have 1 car, no house and no kids, don't drink, smoke or drug, I spend my disposable money on my toys. Your mileage may vary.
But I want to say this - at least he told people at the outset there would be different editions. Not like, say:
I bought Hellboy as a pre-order for Jim - INSIDE the clamshell, was an announcement for the directors cut.
I pre-ordered Van Hellsing some time ago, and when I went to check the order, I accidentally discovered that in the interim, an "ultimate edition" was announced, but nobody sitting on a prepaid order was told. (I cancelled the order, put the other edition on my Yulies list)
And today I see that now that I have finally broken down and bought Pirates of the Caribbean, the have announced a "special edition" for November. Thirty bucks, and no info on what the extras are. cause, you know, Disney needs the money.
*smooches* Peter Jackson, begs for the all Faramir edition of LOTR... Ok, I'll take that bundled with a Boromir, an Eomer and an Aragorn.. .
And WOOHOOO! Package from Australia today (**hugs avon7 madly**) with The Brush Off - the second Murray Whelan tv movie with Mr Wenham. It also has lots of wombat goodies which I want to steal, though they are meant for Chris. (and a little stuffed platypus that only my innate honesty keeps me from snitching.)
I have been a terrible correspondent lately, but I was so relieved to hear that life sized Legolas finally made it to Sydney. It took Chris and I months to find someone who would ship him internationally, and then he got lost in the post, wandering all the way back to the US, and getting his zip code fixed before heading back to Oz. I hope they wrapped him well. We were worried the poor boy would get Sea-longing from the trip.
Still sifting through untitled notes, trying to see if I have everything from lotr100. How stupid i was to post things there and link from here. A hard lesson, but I'll never post to a community that way again.
Would rather be trying to write, or trying to sort out my Sims. No Sims2 for me yet, the mac is always waaaaay behind, but Jim bought me Makin Magic for my Birthday, and i still haven't sorted out what file had screwed up my game. *Wah* Misses Pixilated Faramir!
*ducks* as grumbling Tuor expresses his patience.
Have I mentioned how good it is to live with a partner who shares most of your obsessions? Not only has he been putting things I want on his Yulie list, but he got two big boxes delivered the other day, and showed me his toys. He bought a bunch of stuff from Jlist , including a collection of Trek ships (we are such ship junkies) that will probably land on our Solstice tree before finding permanent space, some Shirow stuff, an old anime magazine with tons of beautiful Last Exile pictures and a Full Metal Alchemist article to boot - and he decided at the last minute not to buy the stuffie Totoro neko bus... but now that I have seen it, I may have to have it. Damn, I never craved stuffies as a kid, but anime has done me in.
The other box was from Big bad Toy Store, and he was able to pretend some of it was for me (G) It was full of action figures - Elendil (quite good); Elrond in his robes (squeeeee) and Gil-Galad!!! OMFG!!! While I ripped GIl-Galad out of his packaging and sniffed the life out of his good just unpacked vinyl smell, he showed me a big box, and asked if I was mad that he had bought the Black Gates playset, since we have most of the figures in there, but he could not pass up The Mouth Of Sauron.
(mad. hehehe. goes back to smelling Gil-Galad.)
