The fire flickering over his face was no match for my heart.

“Isildur! With or without you -- I cannot let it leave this place”

He sneered. “Your honor would never allow that. You could never live with yourself.”

I drew my sword as he strode toward me. His smile faded as the hand that held the ring flew up, scattering rubies of lifeblood in its wake and fell into the fires below.

“You Madman!” He cried as I dragged him toward the light. “What have you done?”

“I learned, very young… from my Foster-Father. A man cannot let his honor blind him to what is right.”
