Drabble: Green

Graceful and Green as a Stem
for the challenge green at tolkien_weekly
All of Arda belongs to the Professor. I am just a traveller.

The great stone made a grinding noise but almost beyond their hope remained in place. Grinning, the stonecutters began temporary repairs.

“Leave that!” Faramir cried as one of the men reached to pull the tangled vines free.

Ithilien, once Gondor’s garden, had borne a terrible weight. But, standing in the shadows of the shadow, it had not been crushed. The healing power of her returning spirit was growing stronger every day.

*The title comes from Sisters of Mercy by Leonard Cohen, which has been stuck in my head since I began thinking about this challenge, but only now made itself plain to me.*
