Chris bought me a book of poems by a local poet when she was home in New Hampshire for the early part of the holidays. I want to share this with you

Midnight

She goes back to the clam shell midden
and it is not far enough.
She goes back to the first world, the last ice age,
and it is not far enough.
She goes back to the cave man playing his bone flute,
and it is not far enough
She walks into the night.
It is too far.
